Dental SEO Services That Help Patients Find Your Practice
Dental SEO is the work of getting your practice found first when nearby patients search Google, Google Maps and AI assistants for a dentist or a treatment you offer, and then turning those searches into booked appointments. I've spent 14+ years in SEO and Google Ads, with 150+ dental & local service businesses served, and I helped scale two dental practices to $5M.
Most practices don't have a patient problem. They have a visibility problem. The practice that shows up first for "dentist near me," "emergency dentist" or "dental implants [city]" gets the call. My job is to make that your practice, and to measure the work in calls and booking requests, not vanity rankings.
What dental SEO includes
Dental SEO covers three places patients look, and you need all three:
| Where patients look | What wins it | What I do |
|---|---|---|
| Google Maps (the local 3-pack) | Relevance, distance and prominence, the three factors Google says drive local results (Google Business Profile Help) | Google Business Profile categories, services and photos; consistent name, address and phone across directories; a steady flow of new reviews |
| Organic search results | Fast, technically sound pages that answer what patients actually ask | A service page for each high-value treatment, technical fixes, internal linking and local links |
| AI answers (ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity) | Clear, consistent facts about your practice and pages written so they can be quoted | Answer-first treatment FAQs, schema markup and one consistent profile of your practice everywhere online |
AI answers aren't a side issue anymore. BrightLocal's 2026 Local Consumer Review Survey found that 45% of US consumers used ChatGPT or another AI tool for local business recommendations in the past year, up from 6% the year before (BrightLocal). If an AI assistant can't find clear, consistent facts about your practice, it recommends someone else.
How my dental SEO process works
Audit and fix list (weeks 1-2). I check your Google Business Profile, your Maps ranking for each treatment across your service area, your site's technical health and how your top three local competitors are winning. You get the findings and a fix list in plain English, whether you hire me or not.
Fix the foundation (month 1-2). GBP categories and services, matching name/address/phone everywhere, technical errors, page speed, mobile layout and schema markup. Most of this only needs doing once, and doing it properly.
Build treatment pages (month 2-4). One strong page per high-value service: implants, clear aligners, emergency dentistry, cosmetic work, whatever you most want more of. Each page answers the questions patients ask before they book.
Grow prominence (ongoing). New reviews every month, local links from real community relationships, and fresh answers to new patient questions.
Measure what matters (monthly). I set up call tracking, Google Search Console and Analytics goals at the start, so every report shows calls, booking requests and Maps rank by treatment in plain English. You'll always know exactly what changed that month and why.
Local SEO for dentists: winning the Google Maps 3-pack
For most practices, the Maps 3-pack brings in more new-patient calls than any other part of Google. Google ranks local results on three things: relevance (how well your profile matches the search), distance (how close you are to the searcher) and prominence (how well known you are, including links and reviews) (Google). You can't move your building, so the work goes into relevance and prominence:
Primary category set to your real specialty, with only the secondary categories that apply. Too many dilutes relevance.
Every service listed in your profile, matching the service pages on your site.
Real photos of your office, team and equipment, added regularly.
Identical name, address and phone on your site, Google, Healthgrades, Yelp, Apple Maps, Bing and the main dental directories.
Reviews that keep coming, by asking every patient (never only the happy ones: Google's review policy doesn't allow selective asking) and replying to each one without confirming that the reviewer is a patient or mentioning any treatment. Patient privacy rules apply to review replies too; talk to your own counsel about your obligations. I can automate the asking for you.
Location pages only for offices you really have. Fake "city" pages for towns you don't serve create thin content and can get a profile suspended.
Dental SEO for high-value treatments
Not every new patient is worth the same to you. A practice that wants more implant and clear-aligner cases needs pages that win those searches. A generic "services" page doesn't. For each treatment I build a page that:
- Uses the words patients type ("dental implants near me," "how much are veneers") rather than clinical terms.
- Answers the top questions in the first two sentences of each section, so Google and AI tools can quote it.
- Shows who does the work, with your dentists' names, credentials and real photos, because dental content is health content and Google expects visible expertise.
- Has one clear next step: click to call, or book online.
If you also run ads for these treatments, the pages double as landing pages. See Google Ads for dentists.
Showing up in AI answers (AEO for dentists)
Patients now ask, "Who's the best implant dentist near me?" and get one answer, not ten links. To be the practice an AI assistant names, it needs to find the same facts about you everywhere and pages that answer questions directly. I write your key pages answer-first, add the matching schema, and keep your listings consistent. The deeper version, including tracking what ChatGPT and Perplexity say about you, is on my AEO and GEO page.
What you get each month
I can tell you exactly what work was done every month. Nothing is hidden behind the word "SEO."
Every month
- A list of the pages created or improved
- GBP updates, photos and posts
- Reviews requested and replied to
- Citations fixed or added
- Report: calls, booking requests, Maps rank by treatment
Every quarter
- Competitor review: who moved up and why
- Technical re-audit
- Treatment priorities checked against your schedule
- Plan for the next 90 days
Who this is for
General and family practices that want a steadier flow of new patients without paying for every click.
Cosmetic, implant and clear-aligner practices chasing high-value cases. See also dental implant marketing and orthodontic marketing.
Multi-location groups and DSOs that need each office to rank in its own area, with one consistent brand.
Practices in the US first, plus Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Ireland.
If you have an in-house marketer and want strategy only, my SEO consulting is the better fit.
Why practices work with me
- 14+ years in SEO and Google Ads.
- 150+ dental & local service businesses served.
- Helped scale two dental practices to $5M.
- No long-term contracts. I earn your business every month.
- One person accountable. You talk to me, the person doing the work, not an account manager reading from a dashboard.
- SEO connected to what happens after the click. More calls only help if someone answers them. My AI answering service helps cover the calls your team can't take, starting with missed-call text-back (available now for Google Ads clients, by request), so more of the patients SEO brings in reach your schedule.
A 30-day process guarantee. We agree your 30-day setup and fix list up front. If it isn't delivered in 30 days, your first month is refunded. I guarantee the work, not rankings or results.

Dental SEO vs Google Ads
| Dental SEO | Google Ads | |
|---|---|---|
| Speed | Builds over months; Maps fixes can show sooner | Calls can start within days |
| When it stops | Gains tend to hold after the work slows | Stops when the budget stops |
| Best for | Steady new-patient flow, often a lower cost per patient over time | Filling the schedule now, testing new treatments |
| Works best | Together: ads cover the gap while SEO builds |
Many practices do best with both. The full picture is on dental marketing.
Why dental SEO stops working (and how to fix it)
If you've paid for SEO and the phone hasn't changed, one of these is usually the cause:
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Ranking in Maps near the office, invisible a mile away | Weak prominence: few recent reviews, few local links | A steady review flow and real local links (sponsorships, referral partners, community) |
| Traffic up, calls flat | Pages rank for the wrong words, or calls go unanswered | Rebuild pages around treatment searches; check after-hours call handling |
| A page that won't show up at all | Technical: blocked from crawling, not indexed, or a duplicate | Check Search Console's Pages report; fix robots.txt, canonicals and the sitemap |
| Wrong hours or phone number in Google or AI answers | Inconsistent details across directories | Clean up every listing so one set of facts appears everywhere |
| Dropped after a website redesign | Old URLs not redirected | Map every old URL to its new one with a 301 redirect |
How to choose a dental SEO company
Ask any company you're considering these five questions:
What exactly will you do each month? You should get a list of tasks, not "ongoing optimization."
How do you measure success? Calls and booked appointments, not just rankings and traffic.
Who does the work? A named person who knows your account.
Do I own my website, content and Google Business Profile? The answer should be yes.
Will you guarantee #1 rankings? Walk away if they say yes. Google says there's no way to request or pay for a better local ranking (Google).
Frequently asked questions
What is dental SEO?
Dental SEO is the process of making a dental practice easy for Google, Google Maps and AI assistants to find, understand and recommend, so nearby patients searching for a dentist or treatment find your practice first and book.
How long does dental SEO take to work?
Google Business Profile and technical fixes can improve Maps visibility within the first few months. Treatment pages and links build over six to twelve months. The timeline depends on how competitive your area is and where your site starts. I'll give you a realistic estimate after the audit.
What affects the cost of dental SEO?
Cost depends on how competitive your market is, how many locations you have, how many treatments you want to rank for and how much your website needs fixing. A single office in a small town needs far less work than a multi-location group competing for implant cases in a major metro. The free audit shows the scope before you commit to anything.
Is dental SEO worth it?
For most practices, yes, because SEO reaches patients who are already looking for a dentist. Unlike ads, a page that ranks keeps bringing in calls without a cost per click. It's worth it when the work is tied to calls and booked appointments, and when someone answers those calls.
Is local SEO for dentists different from dental SEO?
Local SEO is the Maps-focused part of dental SEO: your Google Business Profile, reviews, citations and location signals. Dental SEO also covers your website, treatment pages and AI answers. I handle both together because they feed each other.
How do I get more new dental patients from Google?
Get your Google Business Profile complete and active, earn reviews from every patient, build a clear page for each treatment you want more of, keep your practice details identical everywhere, and make sure every call and form gets answered fast.
Do you limit how many practices you work with in each area?
Yes. We limit how many practices we work with in each area so we never compete against our own clients.
Do I need to sign a long-term contract?
No. There are no long-term contracts. Terms are month-to-month, with no minimum term and 30 days' notice.
