Dental Websites Built to Turn Visitors Into Booked Patients

A dental website has one main job: help a patient who's comparing practices decide you're the right one, then make it easy to call or book from a phone. That means fast pages, a clear page for each treatment, real photos of your team, the details new patients look for, and a call or booking button that's easy to reach on any page. I design and rebuild dental websites around that job, with SEO built into the structure from the start. I've worked in SEO and Google Ads for 14+ years, with 150+ dental & local service businesses served, and I helped scale two dental practices to $5M.

What a dental website has to do

Job

  • Answer "is this practice right for me?"
  • Answer the practical questions
  • Make the next step easy
  • Build trust before the visit
  • Load fast on a phone

What it looks like on the page

  • Who you see, what you treat, where you are, and whether you see new patients
  • Insurance and payment options, hours, parking, what happens at the first visit
  • A tap-to-call button and a booking or request button near the top of every page, on every screen size
  • Real photos of your team and office, dentist bios, and recent reviews
  • Pages that show content quickly on mobile data, without heavy sliders or video autoplay

Signs your current website is losing patients

Sign

  • Traffic but few calls or booking requests
  • High-value treatments get little interest
  • Patients ask questions the site should answer
  • The site feels like any other practice
  • You can't tell which pages bring in patients

What's usually behind it

  • The call and booking buttons are hard to find on mobile, or every page sends people to a generic contact form
  • Implants, clear aligners or cosmetic work are buried on one "services" page instead of having their own pages
  • Insurance, new-patient and first-visit details are missing or hard to find
  • Stock photos and generic copy instead of your own team, office and voice
  • Calls, booking clicks and form requests aren't tracked
Process

How it works

1

Audit your current site. Speed, mobile layout, how easy it is to call or book, which pages bring in visits and inquiries, and what's ranking now.

2

Design and build. A mobile-first layout with your photos and brand, a clear path to call or book on every page, and pages that load quickly.

3

SEO structure by treatment. A page for each treatment you want more of, clean URLs, titles and headings, internal links and structured data, so Google and AI answers can understand what you offer.

4

Test and improve after launch. Track calls, booking clicks and requests, then adjust layouts, headlines and buttons based on what patients actually do.

Speed and mobile

Most patients will see your site on a phone. Google's Core Web Vitals give clear targets for a good experience: the main content should load within 2.5 seconds, the page should respond to taps within 200 milliseconds, and the layout shouldn't jump around while it loads (web.dev). I build to those targets and check them with real-device testing before launch.

SEO built in, not added later

A redesign is a good moment to set up the structure that dental SEO depends on: treatment pages, location details, internal links and structured data. It's also the easiest moment to lose rankings, if old URLs disappear without redirects. Before launch, I map every page that brings in visits today to its new home and redirect it, so the history you've built carries over. For the ongoing work after launch, see dental SEO.

Accessible by design

A practice website should work for every patient, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation or larger text. I design with readable type sizes, strong color contrast, descriptive image text, clear headings and buttons that work without a mouse.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What affects the cost of a dental website?

The number of pages, how much copy and photography needs creating, whether you're redesigning an existing site or starting fresh, the booking or scheduling tools to connect, and how many locations you have. I quote after looking at your current site and goals.

How long does a dental website take?

It depends on the number of pages, how quickly content and photos come together, and how fast feedback and approvals happen. The audit and page plan come first, so you'll know the steps before design starts.

Do I need a new website, or can my current one be fixed?

Not every practice needs a full rebuild. If the site is reasonably fast and easy to update, fixing the key pages (home, treatments, new patients and contact) can be enough. A rebuild makes sense when the site is slow on phones, hard to update or built on a platform that limits what you can change.

Will a redesign hurt my Google rankings?

It can if old pages disappear without redirects or important content is removed. Mapping each page that brings in visits to its new URL, redirecting it, and keeping or improving the content protects the rankings you've built.

What should a dental website homepage include?

Who you are and what you treat, the area you serve, whether you're accepting new patients, insurance and payment basics, real photos of your team, recent reviews, and a call or booking button near the top that stays easy to reach on a phone.

Can patients book online from the website?

Yes, usually by connecting the scheduling or practice software you already use, so patients can request or book a time from any page. Which option fits depends on the tools your practice runs.
